HIM

HIM, short for His Infernal Majesty, was a Finnish gothic rock band led by the charismatic Ville Valo. Formed in 1991, they rose to international fame with their unique blend of melancholic melodies, heavy riffs, and romantic lyrics.

The band’s signature sound, which they dubbed “Love Metal,” captivated audiences worldwide. Their breakthrough came with the 1999 album “Razorblade Romance,” featuring the haunting hit “Join Me in Death.” This track, with its melodramatic lyrics and lush instrumentation, became an anthem for lovelorn gothic teens everywhere.

HIM’s career spanned over two decades, producing eight studio albums and leaving an indelible mark on the gothic rock scene. Their iconic “heartagram” symbol became synonymous with their brand of dark romanticism.

The band officially disbanded in 2017, concluding their career with a farewell tour. Ville Valo’s distinctive baritone voice, coupled with the band’s ability to seamlessly blend metal, goth, and pop sensibilities, cemented HIM’s status as one of Finland’s most successful musical exports.
