Artist Spotlight: Bully

Bully is the brainchild of Nashville-based musician Alicia Bognanno, who burst onto the indie rock scene in 2015 with their raw and unapologetic sound.

Bognanno, a former audio engineering intern at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio, brings her technical prowess to Bully’s recordings, handling production duties herself. This DIY ethos permeates the band’s sound, which marries grunge-inspired riffs with pop-punk sensibilities.

Bully’s debut album, “Feels Like” (2015), garnered critical acclaim for its honest lyrics and Bognanno’s distinctive howl. The follow-up, “Losing” (2017), further cemented their place in the alt-rock landscape.

Their third album, “SUGAREGG” (2020), saw Bully evolve their sound while maintaining their trademark intensity. The track “Atom Bomb” exemplifies Bully’s knack for crafting catchy, high-energy songs with a hefty emotional punch.

Bully continues to be a force in the indie rock world, with Bognanno’s powerful vocals and candid songwriting serving as the beating heart of the project.
