Artist Spotlight: Black Atlass

Black Atlass, the stage name of Canadian singer-songwriter Alex Fleming, emerged on the music scene in the early 2010s with his unique blend of R&B, electronic, and indie pop sensibilities.

Born in London, Ontario, Fleming began his musical journey as a teenager, self-producing and releasing his first EP in 2012. His haunting falsetto and atmospheric production quickly caught the attention of industry insiders, leading to a deal with Fool’s Gold Records.

Black Atlass’s breakthrough came with the release of his single “Paris” in 2014, which was featured in an Yves Saint Laurent campaign. This exposure catapulted him into the spotlight and showcased his ability to create moody, sensual soundscapes.

His debut full-length album, “Pain & Pleasure,” dropped in 2018 after signing with The Weeknd’s XO label. The album, including tracks like “Blossom,” further solidified his position as a rising star in the alt-R&B scene.

Black Atlass continues to evolve his sound, pushing boundaries with his emotive vocals and genre-blending production. His music often explores themes of love, desire, and introspection, resonating with listeners seeking a more intimate and atmospheric R&B experience.
